What is inside each book?
Each volume contains 42 different coloring illustrations across 100 pages in total. The page count includes the introduction, blank illustration backs, and six pages for trying tools, palettes, and color transitions. The square format measures 8.5 × 8.5 inches.
Can I color the scene on the cover?
Yes. The scene on the color cover is included as a matching black-and-white illustration inside the book. Follow the cover palette or give the same place a completely different mood.
How detailed are the illustrations?
Sweeping landscapes and open shapes are balanced with smaller discoveries. Some areas are finer than others. The four free original illustrations are the best way to explore the style and see how the spaces suit your tools and the way you like to color.
How can I start with just a few pencils?
Choose a small area, such as a leaf or a flower. Pick three colored pencils you like together and try them on the palette page. Start with light pressure and build up darker areas gradually. You can explore the rest of the picture another day.
Why are the illustration backs blank?
There is no second illustration on the back of your page. This does not prevent wet ink from passing through the paper. Try your tools on a test page and place a separate protective sheet underneath the illustration while coloring.
What paper does the printed book use?
The printed edition has a black-and-white interior on white book paper. Use the test pages to try your tools and color transitions. The free PDF sample lets you explore the illustrations; when printing it at home, you choose your own paper.
What is included in the free sample?
Four complete illustrations from the first two books, an introduction, and a palette page. The PDF is available in English and German, in A4 and US Letter. Download and print it for personal use, with no sign-up.
